5 observations from Texas’ 52-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe
The Longhorns opened the 2022 season and the Quinn Ewers experiment with a resounding win over the visiting Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Here are five thoughts on the win.
- After throwing an interception on his second pass as a Longhorn, Quinn Ewers settled down and showed the ability that has the Longhorn nation on the edge of its collective seat. After starting erratically he completed his next five passes and was extremely accurate to close the half. Once Ewers left the game the offense was much less effective; it is clear why he won the pre-season competition.
- Sark is very good at creating space and matchups. He uses formations, motions and shifts to get the right matchup and to put playmakers in great spots.
- Ja’Tavion Sanders lead all Texas receivers with 6 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. The sophomore tight end could emerge as the weapon to compliment Xavier Worthy and give the running game the space it needs to keep operating.
- Texas defense started strong, holding the ULM offense in check until the issue was well and truly settled and scoring on a pick 6.
- Texas took care of business against an outclassed opponent, but a much bigger challenge is looming; Texas takes on ‘Bama next Saturday.
