Arbitration Deadline Tracker: See which of the Houston Astros’ eight arbitration-eligible players have agreed to new salaries

Friday is the final day available for MLB teams and arbitration-eligible players to exchange salary figures. Players with three years of MLB service are eligible for arbitration until they reach their sixth year of service, at which time most players become free agents. The organization and each player can either agree to a deal by Friday’s deadline or each submits a salary number to be brought to an arbitration hearing in February. Arbitrators would listen to pitches from both sides at that point, and ultimately decide which of the two submitted numbers will become that player’s salary for the upcoming season. In most cases, both clubs and players prefer to avoid arbitration hearings. So far, the defending World Champion Houston Astros have already agreed to terms with six of their eight arbitration-eligible players.

The Astros have reportedly agreed to terms with starting pitchers Framber Valdez ($6,800,000) and Jose Urquidy ($3,025,000), relief pitcher Ryne Stanek ($3,600,000), relief pitcher Phil Maton ($2,550,000), utility player Mauricio Dubon ($1,400,000), and relief pitcher Blake Taylor ($830,000).

Two more arbitration-eligible Astros are still without deals – All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker and pitcher Cristian Javier.
