BAYLOR BEARS (6-3, 4-2 Big 12)

Last Week: Won, 38-35 at Oklahoma

This Week: Saturday, 6:00 p.m. CT vs #19 Kansas State (6-3, 4-2 Big 12)

TV/Radio: FS1/SiriusXM 202

The Baylor Bears return home Saturday to take on the 19th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats in a game that could potentially have Big 12 Championship Game implications. Baylor has won their last three games, most recently topping the Oklahoma Sooners 38-35 in Norman behind Craig “Sqwirl” Williams’ 192 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Running the football successfully has been a huge part of the Bears’ recent success – they’ve now had a running back account for at least 148 yards rushing and two touchdowns in three consecutive games. Freshman Richard Reese was responsible for the first two instances, forming a formidable backfield alongside Williams and junior Qualan Jones. Baylor may meet their match this weekend with Kansas State in town, one of only 17 teams nationally averaging more yards per game on the ground than the Bears. The Wildcats make the trip to Waco fresh off a heartbreaking 34-27 loss to Texas and are tied with Baylor in the Big 12 standings at 4-2. Kansas State got starting quarterback Adrian Martinez last week, who, alongside running back Deuce Vaughn, form one of the most productive backfields in the country when healthy. Baylor has topped the Wildcats four consecutive times starting Saturday but has won the last two matchups in Waco by a combined four points. The winner of Saturday’s matchup will move to 5-2 in the Big 12 and 7-3 overall, guaranteeing themselves at least a tie for second place in the conference entering week 12.

TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS (4-5, 2-4 Big 12)

Last Week: Lost, 34-24 at #7 TCU

This Week: Saturday, 6:00 p.m. CT vs Kansas (6-3, 3-3 Big 12)

TV/Radio: ESPN+/SiriusXM 200

Texas Tech’s 2022 schedule has been full of ups and downs, but the possibility of bowl eligibility leaves the Red Raiders with plenty to fight for heading into the season’s final three games. Tech hosts the Kansas Jayhawks Saturday, a team that has dropped three of their last four after a 5-0 start. The Jayhawks won impressively over Oklahoma State last week but did so against Oklahoma State’s backup quarterback, a freshman. They’ll run into three different Texas Tech quarterbacks this week, although talented freshman Behren Morton has seemingly taken primary control of the starting job. Tech boasts the 11th-ranked passing offense in the country despite starting any of three signal callers at various points this season, and they’ll look to take advantage of a Jayhawks’ defense allowing the second most yards through the air in the conference. The Red Raiders have faced ranked opponents in six of their nine games this season, making the Jayhawks a notable exception and a potential “get right” opportunity. With a win, the Red Raiders can pull within one triumph of bowl eligibility in head coach Joey McGuire’s first year at the helm.
