The Chicago Bears signed former Houston Cougars defensive end D’Anthony Jones to their roster, the team announced on Monday.

The Lawndale, California native was not selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, but was invited to attend Chicago’s rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.

Jones, who played three seasons with Houston, appeared in all 13 games for the Cougars during the 2022 season. He forced five fumbles for UH, which was tied for the most in the country. Jones also finished fourth in the American Athletic Conference with eight sacks.

With the signing, Houston has now seen four players from its 2022 roster sign with NFL teams as undrafted free agents. Art Green, Christian Trahan, and Donavan Mutin also inked deals with NFL teams last weekend following the draft. The Cougars also had four players drafted.
