Cowboys add DT Johnathan Hankins

The Dallas Cowboys have bolstered the interior of their defensive line by acquiring veteran defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins from the Las Vegas Raiders. The trade will send Hankins and a 2024 seventh-round pick to Dallas in exchange for a 2023 sixth-round pick. While the Cowboys’ pass defense has been a strength this season, allowing just 185.1 yards per game, fourth in the NFL, and has recorded a league-leading 29 sacks, the run defense has been vulnerable, surrendering 120.1 yards per contest, 20th in the league. Hankins, a ten-year NFL veteran, has always been considered an excellent run defender that should bolster a vulnerable Cowboys run defense that is slated to face four top-ten rushing offenses the rest of the season in addition to top running backs such as the Titans’ Derrick Henry, Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook and the Colts Jonathan Taylor.
