Cowboys’ Gallup ruled out against Giants
Despite making it through practice all week, Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup has been ruled out for tonight’s game against the New York Giants.
Gallup, who tore a ligament in his knee late in the 2022 season, has been ramping up his work and conditioning over the last few weeks, and it looked early on this week that Gallup would take his first snaps of the season on the road against the Giants.
Gallup joins quarterback Dak Prescott, safety Jayron Kearse, and guard Connor McGovern as out for tonight’s contest, while tight end Dalton Schultz remains a game-time decision.
With Schultz a possible no-go, the Cowboys used one of their two practice squad elevations on a tight end, Sean McKeon. They also elevated quarterback Will Grier to backup Cooper Rush.
Offensive lineman Jason Peters will also be on the active roster tonight.
The Cowboys signed Peters before the season started after starter Tyron Smith went down with an injury but needed the first two weeks of the season to get into football shape.
Peters, a nine-time pro bowler, gives the Cowboys options on the left side of the line where they are starting rookie Tyler Smith at tackle and second-year player Matt Farniok at guard.
Linebacker Micah Parsons (illness) is questionable, but expected to play tonight, joining defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna (neck), linebacker Luke Gifford (hamstring) and Schultz on the list of gametime decisions.
