Cowboys officially rolling with Brett Maher at kicker, did not activate Vizcaino

Despite his uncharacteristic struggles on Monday night, the Cowboys are showing confidence in their kicker. It was announced on Saturday that Dallas is rolling with Brett Maher at kicker for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers and are not activating presumed insurance kicker Tristan Vizcaino.

It was reported earlier in the week that Maher was simply outperforming Vizcaino in practice, which could be what ultimately led to the decision to keep him in that role.

Maher has made 29 of his 32 field goal attempts this season while going 50 of 53 on extra points. His three field goal misses were on two 59-yarders and one 46-yard attempt. On top of that, two of his three extra point misses over the regular season were blocked.

Dallas goes into San Francisco as a bit of an underdog and likely cannot afford for Maher to put together another performance like he did last week when he missed four out of five extra point attempts.
