Cowboys waive Mullen among other roster moves ahead of Divisional Round

The Cowboys are shaking up the roster a bit ahead of Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Their moves are telling based on what they saw last week and throughout practice.

The most noticeable move Dallas made was waiving cornerback Trayvon Mullen, who appeared in just one game for the Cowboys after signing with the team late in the year. Mullen recorded three tackles in Week 18 against the Washington Commanders for Dallas this season before missing Monday night’s Wild Card game against Tampa Bay. This move could be in response to the level of play we saw from Israel Mukuamu, who found solid action against the Bucs last week.

In addition, the Cowboys have elevated cornerback Xavier Rhodes and offensive lineman Brock Hoffman from the practice squad. Rhodes appeared in his first game for Dallas on Monday night, seeing the field on 29% of Dallas’ defensive snaps. The veteran was brought in to provide some stability at the corner spot opposite of Trevon Diggs. Hoffman has seen the field in three games for Dallas this season, with all of his snaps coming on special teams.

The Cowboys have also signed offensive lineman Aviante Collins to the active roster from the practice squad. Collins saw his only offensive snaps in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts, where he saw the field three times. Most of his snaps are coming on special teams.
