Dallas Cowboys roster moves for Week 16

The Cowboys will likely test out some of the new acquisitions they made over the past several weeks in the upcoming matchup with Philadelphia.

Reports earlier today revealed that it is likely that former Pro Bowl wide receiver T.Y. Hilton will see his first stint of action in a Cowboys uniform this week. Hilton, who is in the latter stages of his career, has seen steady regression over the past three years but should carry less of a burden in Dallas as the third option at best.

Dallas has also elevated cornerback Mackensie Alexander and center Brock Hoffman from the practice squad. Alexander is expected to see time at the CB2 position opposite Trevon Diggs, given Kelvin Joseph’s struggles last week. If Alexander and newly acquired corner Trayvon Mullen are both active, they should both see time on the field. Hoffman will likely be used in case of emergency on the offensive line.

Following a car accident Thursday night, rookie defensive end Sam Williams was ruled OUT of Saturday’s game with a concussion and neck strain. Williams and the other driver involved are reportedly fine after the accident. He suffered no significant injuries; however, Dallas is being cautious with him going forward as he is needed on the edge for the playoffs.

Dallas could be getting quite a break this week against Philadelphia as star quarterback Jalen Hurts is OUT for the matchup leaving the Eagles in the hands of Gardner Minshew. Minshew is considered one of the best backups in the league, so Dallas will need to be prepared. However, the injuries should not prove as costly versus a backup.
