Eric Gordon and Jae’Sean Tate will miss Thursday’s game

The Rockets will be short-handed when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night. Already without Kevin Porter Jr. due to a foot injury, Eric Gordon and Jae’Sean Tate have also been ruled out.

Tate will miss the game due to right ankle injury management, while Gordon will sit because of right knee soreness. Tate played 21 minutes of the Rockets’ loss to the Wizards on Wednesday night, but head coach Stephen Silas indicated he wanted to limit Tate’s minutes after he missed much of the first half of the season with a sprained ankle.

Gordon had played both ends of the Rockets’ last two back-to-backs, and there was no hint a change was coming, but he shot 4-of-14 in 31 minutes on Wednesday.

With Porter, Gordon, and Tate out on Thursday, the Rockets will be without their top three point guard options against the Cavs, whose 109.8 defensive rating is the best in the NBA.
