Houston Cougars basketball lands guard Damian Dunn in transfer portal
The Houston Cougars basketball team just got a new addition to the 2023-24 roster, and his name is Damian Dunn.
Dunn announced via his social media pages on Saturday morning that the next chapter in his collegiate career will be with the Cougars.
Dunn spent the first three seasons of his career with the Temple Owls. He missed most of the 2019-20 season with a foot injury that ended up being a medical redshirt year.
The Kinston, North Carolina, native joins the Cougars with two years of eligibility remaining due to the additional COVID-19 year granted by the NCAA.
He averaged 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and three assists for the Owls during the 2022-23 season. Dunn shot 41.1% from the field and 34.8% on 3-pointers.
In Temple’s upset win against Houston during January in the regular season, Dunn scored 16 points, tracked down four rebounds, and dished out three assists while only committing one turnover.
Dunn is the first addition to Houston’s roster via the transfer portal this offseason. The Cougars are hosting former Baylor guard LJ Cryer on a campus visit this weekend, a source confirmed to Gallery Sports earlier in the week. Cryer is making several visits to different schools as he is in the transfer portal.
Houston will also be adding freshmen Kordelius Jefferson, Joseph Tugler, and Jacob McFarland to next year’s roster. Big man Cedric Lath will also be a freshman, although he joined UH in January as a redshirt.
