The Houston Cougars dropped in both the Associated Press and USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll in spite of coming out victorious in week one against UTSA.
The Cougars dropped from No. 24 in week one to No. 25 in the new AP Poll. Houston fell from its No. 25 spot in the coaches poll in week one to being unranked. UH defeated the UTSA Roadrunners 37-35 in triple overtime in Saturday’s opener.
Across the American Athletic Conference, the Houston Cougars remain the only team ranked in either of the polls with its No. 25 spot. Cincinnati fell out of the top 25 in the AP Poll following its loss to Arkansas in week one. Only the Bearcats and the UCF Knights were the other conference teams that received votes in either of the polls.
Cincinnati received 63 votes in the AP Poll and 61 in the coaches poll. UCF received 22 in the AP Poll and 23 in the coaches poll. UH received 143 votes in the AP Poll and 137 in the coaches poll.
