Houston Cougars football has sold more than 5,000 new season tickets ahead of inaugural Big 12 season

Houston Cougars football is seeing the benefits of its new upcoming Big 12 Conference membership in the form of ticket sales.

The university announced it has sold more than 5,000 new season tickets, which is a record for TDECU Stadium since it opened in 2014, ahead of the inaugural Big 12 football season on Wednesday afternoon. Houston has sold more than 15,000 total season tickets, which include renewals from previous holders.

Current season ticket holders of UH football have until April 30 to renew for the upcoming season, so the program expects the total number of season tickets sold to increase in the coming days.

Houston will host the College Football Playoff runner-up Texas Christian University, West Virginia, Texas, Cincinnati, and Oklahoma State as Big 12 foes during the 2023 season. The Cougars will also host UTSA and Sam Houston throughout the campaign.
