Houston Texans Roster Moves for Week 15
The Houston Texans have made multiple moves ahead of their Week 15 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at NRG Stadium.
It became official earlier today that the seasons of rookie standouts Dameon Pierce and Derek Stingley Jr. have come to a close, as they have both been placed on IR. Pierce was having a remarkable season out of the backfield, becoming the primary source of offense for the Texans. Stingley should promise in the secondary but has missed multiple weeks in a row. Defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth was also among the group added to the reserve/injured list.
The Texans will be getting defensive lineman Jonathan Greenard back this week as he is coming off IR for the first time since Week 4. Greenard recorded 1.5 sacks in the first four games of the season before injuring his calf.
The Texans have signed two players from their practice squad to fill the spots left by their newly injured players. The first being running back Royce Freeman, who has yet to appear in a game this season. He spent the first three years of his career with the Denver Broncos before splitting time with Carolina and Houston in 2021. Defensive back Cobi Francis has also been signed to add depth to the cornerback room after losing Stingley.
Tight end Mason Schreck and defensive back Will Redmond have been elevated from the practice squad ahead of this week’s game. Schreck has appeared in two games this season for the Texans pulling in two catches for six yards. Redmond has also appeared in two games earlier this season.
