Houston Texans vs. Chicago Bears: Thursday Injury Report for Week 3

Three new names were added to the injury report, two of whom did not practice.

The Houston Texans released their updated injury report for Thursday, September 22, 2022, for their Week 3 game vs. the Chicago Bears. There are six new statuses, including three new additions to the report.

Did Not Practice:

TE Pharaoh Brown (shoulder): Brown is a new addition to the injury report. His injury is worth watching as it means the top two tight ends on the Texans depth chart were DNPs on Thursday.

DL Kurt Hinish (foot): “Big Hiney” was also a new addition to the report. Hinish played 26 defensive snaps and five special teams snaps in a backup role Sunday in Denver.

TE Brevin Jordan (ankle): This is the same injury that kept Jordan out of practice Wednesday and caused him to miss practice twice last week. Jordan still managed to play 23 offensive snaps and four special teams snaps. His DNP status, combined with the addition of Brown as a DNP, leaves the potential for the Texans to be thin at the TE position should both players be unable to play. OJ Howard would assume the lead TE duties, and Jordan Akins would likely be called up from the practice squad as well.

DB Isaac Yiadom (thigh): This is back-to-back DNPs for Yiadom. This thigh injury is different than the abdominal injury that had Yiadom on the injury report last week. Yiadom is primarily a special teams player, taking 88% of all special teams snaps in Denver.

Limited Participation:

DL Maliek Collins (knee): This is the same injury that had Collins on the injury report last week. Collins played 34 defensive snaps and five special teams snaps, earning praise from defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire. Collins was a DNP Wednesday, so he is moving in the right direction.

OL Austin Deculus (ankle): Deculus is the third new addition to the injury report. He is a backup OL and did not dress for either Week 1 or Week 2.

Full Participation:

LB Blake Cashman (hip): Cashman improved from a limited participant Wednesday to a full participant Thursday. He took 17 defensive snaps after Kevin Pierre-Louis was injured, as well as 20 special teams snaps (77%). He could see more time on defense this week.

LB Kamu Grugier-Hill (neck): KGH was a limited participant on Wednesday and improved to full on Thursday. He played 71 of 72 defensive snaps last week, and looks like he will be a full go for Sunday.

QB Davis Mills (right thumb): This is the second consecutive day Mills has been listed on the injury report but has been a full participant both days. OC Pep Hamilton said he wasn’t aware of the injury bothering Mills at all. He is the only person on the injury report not listed as questionable right now by the team. He is not listed with a designation at all. It appears he will be fine for Sunday.
