Kyle Tucker loses arbitration case with Astros, will make $5 million this season

According to the Associated Press, Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker lost his arbitration case with the team and will make $5 million this coming season. Tucker had filed at $7.5 million.

Tucker, 26, made his first all-star team this past season in his fifth year with the Astros. In 150 games, he hit .257 with a .808 OPS to go along with 30 home runs and 107 RBI. This is his second straight season with 30 long balls, as he saw a career-high in runs batted in. He also won a Gold Glove for his play in right field.

Entering his age-26 season, Tucker will join an improved lineup that saw the return of Michael Brantley and the addition of Jose Abreu. Tucker was a crucial part of the Astros’ championship lineup last season and has steadily improved seemingly every year.

Tucker is one of just two Astros players to go to arbitration this offseason, with starting pitcher Cristian Javier being the other.
