NBA Draft Lottery: Houston Rockets draw No. 4 pick, but Spurs win Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes
Tonight’s NBA Draft Lottery is being called one of the most consequential off-season moments in NBA history, mostly because of a 7-foot-5 19-year-old from France. Victor Wembanyama, widely considered the most impactful NBA draft prospect since LeBron James in 2003, will in all likelihood be headed to San Antonio after the Spurs were awarded the No. 1 overall pick in June’s draft. The Houston Rockets, meanwhile, were awarded pick No. 4.
Plenty of talented players will remain behind Wembanyama, including point guard Scoot Henderson of G-League Ignite and Alabama small forward Brandon Miller, who averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds while being named NABC Freshman of the Year in 2022-2023. The Rockets, a hopefully rapidly-improving young team with a new head coach in Ime Udoka, will still have plenty of options available at No. 4 – including trading the pick away.
The NBA Draft Lottery’s results after San Antonio’s No. 1 overall pick are as follows:
2. Charlotte Hornets
3. Portland Trail Blazers
4. Houston Rockets
5. Detroit Pistons
6. Orlando Magic
7. Indiana Pacers
8. Washington Wizards
9. Utah Jazz
10. Dallas Mavericks
11. Orlando Magic
12. Oklahoma City Thunder
13. Toronto Raptors
14. New Orleans Pelicans
