Oral Roberts star Max Abmas transfers to Texas

The Longhorns bring in a star point guard through the transfer portal by adding former Oral Roberts scorer Max Abmas. Abmas is a Rockwall, Texas native.

Abmas is a gifted scorer who has averaged over 20 points per game the past three seasons at Oral Roberts. Last year, he put up 21.9 points per game on 43.6% from the field. He’s an efficient 3-point shooter as he hit 37.3% of his shots from beyond the arc last year and shoots almost 39% for his college career.

Abmas was rated by 247 Sports as the third-best guard in the transfer portal, behind Taran Armstrong, who is leaving California Baptist, and LJ Cryer, who moved from Baylor to Houston.

He’s an NCAA All-Region player and a three-time All-Summit tournament player. He’s a two-time Summit League player of the year and has made three All-Summit teams.

The 6-foot-1 guard will join a Texas team that finished among the top teams in college basketball last season. He should immediately contribute as a scorer in a big way. The past two seasons prior to his decision to not declare for the NBA Draft, his stock rose quite a bit due to his performance against upper-level competition and his dominance within his conference.
