RB Royce Freeman Returns to Texans on Practice Squad

The veteran running back was released prior to Week 1.

The Texans continued their practice squad musical chairs, bringing back RB Royce Freeman. Freeman was released by the team on Friday, just prior to their Week 1 game vs. Indianapolis.

Freeman, 26, is now in his 6th year in the NFL. After spending his first three years in Denver, he played in Carolina before joining the Texans last season. Freeman played in 7 games for Houston last year, rushing 35 times for 92 yards, and had 7 receptions for 62 yards in limited action.

He will provide additional depth at the running back position for the Texans, who currently have only Dameon Pierce, Rex Burkhead, and Dare Ogunbowale on the 53-man roster.
