Report: Texans to elevate TE Akins for Week 3
The Texans signed Akins to the practice squad on August 30.
According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the Houston Texans will be elevating TE Jordan Akins from the practice squad to the main roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bears in Chicago.
Akins was originally a 3rd round draft pick in 2018 by the Texans and has played all four of his NFL seasons in Houston. Akins was signed by the New York Giants in April but released by them on August 24.
Akins will replace the injured Brevin Jordan on the roster. Jordan missed practice all week due to an ankle injury.
Akins has played 58 games for the Texans over 4 seasons, starting 23. He has made 114 receptions for 1260 yards and 3 touchdowns.
