Rockets center Alperen Sengun will miss Monday’s game against the Boston Celtics due to a left groin strain.
“After last game, he felt a little something,” Rockets head coach Stephen Silas said. “Yesterday he went through the short (practice) we had on the court, so I thought he was gonna be okay, and then we just had a walk-through upstairs and he said he still kinda felt it, and he went from probable to out.”
Sengun is averaging 14.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists this season while shooting 55.5% from the field. He has played in 62 of 66 games in his second NBA campaign, and Monday will be the second game he’s missed since the calendar flipped to 2022, although Silas didn’t think it would be anything long term.
“I wouldn’t think it would last more than a game, but with the groin injury you never know, so hopefully it won’t be very long, but who knows, I was expecting him to play tonight.”
