Smith: Nico Collins becoming a “go-to guy”

Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith has been impressed with the second-year wideout.

Wednesday, Lovie Smith met with the media, and among the topics discussed was the health and performance of second-year WR Nico Collins.

Collins was unable to practice Wednesday due to a groin injury, but the head coach acknowledged the impact Collins has made when on the field:

“We see who Nico (Collins) is becoming. A go-to guy, making plays big target since preseason on. We’re not as good as football, with Nico not being able to play for us. Hopefully, we can get him back sooner than later.”

Smith did not as yet have a timetable on when he expected Collins to return, only stating:

“He’s not out for the season or anything like that. Hopefully, we get him back sooner than later.”
