Guard Jameer Nelson Jr., who played at the University of Delaware for the past two seasons, is transferring to TCU for his final year of college eligibility. Nelson began his career at George Washington, where he played two seasons before transferring to play two seasons for the Delaware Blue Hens. Nelson was one of the most sought-after guards available in the transfer portal this offseason after averaging 20.6 points per game last season in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Nelson, 6-1, had an outstanding 28% assist rate in conference play last season and is an excellent pick-and-roll point guard. With Mike Miles Jr. moving on to the NBA, Jameer Nelson Jr. fits Jamie Dixon’s roster like a glove. Nelson made 52.5% of his 2-point shots and 30.2% from beyond the arc during his 2022-23 campaign.
With Damion Baugh and Emanuel Miller still weighing their options on whether or not to return to TCU, fans in Fort Worth hope that the addition of Nelson inspires those players to stay.
Jameer Nelson Jr. is the son of former NBA guard Jameer Nelson, who played professionally from 2004-2018 after an excellent stint at Saint Joseph’s University.
