TCU Horned Frogs center Eddie Lampkin Jr. did not travel with the team to Kansas City for the Big 12 tournament, and is reportedly “stepping away from the program to deal with personal matters” per Frogs Today.

Lampkin, a 6-11 sophomore from Houston, is averaging 6.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game when available this season. Lampkin has missed seven games this season due to injury. With Lampkin unavailable, other frontcourt players like Xavier Cork and JaKobe Coles will be asked to carry a heavier load for the Frogs – as will preseason Big 12 player of the year Mike Miles Jr.

Steven Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram tweeted that Lampkin’s absence from the team is potentially related to his mental health. According to Johnson, a source indicates it is “too early to say what [his absence] means for his standing on the team going forward.”
