Texans Add More CB Depth, Sign BoPete Keyes to Practice Squad
The former Tulane standout joins his fifth organization in three seasons.
The Texans announced Tuesday the signing of CB BoPete Keyes to the practice squad. Keyes, 24, was a seventh-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020.
At Tulane, Keyes was Honorable Mention All-AAC his senior season when he held all opposing quarterbacks to a 45% completion percentage when targeting him. Between his junior and senior campaigns, he accounted for 85 tackles, 18 passes defended, and a pair of interceptions.
After appearing in eight games his rookie season for the Chiefs, he was released just prior to the 2021 season. He then spent various stints on the practice squads of the Colts, Patriots, and Bears.
The Bears waived him at the end of August this year. Keyes will serve as backup depth at cornerback. He joins Grayland Arnold, Jacobi Francis, and Tristin McCollum as defensive backs on the Texans’ practice squad.
