Texans add Pitt safety Brandon Hill with 248th pick in the seventh round
The Texans close out their draft with Pittsburgh safety Brandon Hill. Hill became a staple in the secondary for Pitt in his last two seasons with the team.
At 5-10, 193 pounds, Hill brings great physicality to the safety position and never avoids the play. He constantly plays downhill and attacks the football with great instincts and range. He does well in coverage with his athleticism and ability to take angles on the football.
He didn’t record an interception this past season after having two the year before. Scouts wondered if that dip in production was a trend or just a blip in the radar. He should contribute right away on special teams with his ceiling being that of an NFL starter.
