Texans could be missing their top two tight ends Week 4 vs. Chargers

Houston elevated two tight ends from the practice squad.

On Saturday, the Houston Texans announced they were elevating a pair of tight ends from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Both Jordan Akins (who was active in Week 3 as well) and Mason Schreck were activated by the team.

TE Brevin Jordan has already been ruled out, and TE Pharaoh Brown is now dealing with a hip injury in addition to a shoulder injury. The new hip injury designation saw him go from a full participant in Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices to a limited participant Friday. He is officially listed as questionable.

The elevation of two tight ends would seem to indicate that Brown is trending towards not playing Sunday.

In Week 3, Akins had 3 receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown. It was his first touchdown since 2020.

Schreck, 28, is a former 7th round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He has not appeared in an NFL game since 2020, and has never caught a pass in a regular season game.
