BREAKING: Texans, LT Laremy Tunsil agree on $75M extension

For some time, Houston Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil has expressed his desire to be the highest-paid offensive lineman. It appears that wish has come true.

Sources state that Tunsil has agreed to a three-year, $75 million extension with the Texans. The deal is said to include a $30 million signing bonus with $50 million fully guaranteed and $60 million in total guarantees.

The $25 million average annual value surpasses the $23.01 million AAV of the contract San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams signed in 2021.

In December, Tunsil told ESPN, “Always want to reset the market. Perfect opportunity to reset the market. Everything is lining up as far as my contract to how I’m playing. Everything lining up perfectly.”

Tusil’s production in 2022 was among the best at his position, with a pass block win rate (92.0%), which was 12th among offensive tackles, as he allowed only one sack (tied for second fewest) and 12 pressures (third fewest). Tunsil had a PFF pass-blocking grade of 91.7, tops among all offensive tackles.

The Texans remain busy this offseason, with this deal coming on the same day Houston traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys for a pair of draft picks.
