Texans make two roster moves on the offensive line
Houston elevated one OL from the practice squad, signed another OL to the practice squad.
Wednesday, the Texans announced a pair of moves involving offensive linemen.
Houston elevated center Jimmy Morrissey from the practice squad to the active roster. Morrissey was a seventh-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 and was signed by Texans off the Raiders practice squad on October 19, 2021. Morrissey was active in five games for Houston last season, starting four at center. Houston waived Morrissey on August 30 and signed him to the practice squad the same day.
This move comes following Tuesday’s decision by the team to place center Justin Britt on the NFI list. Britt has been away from the team for personal reasons related to football, according to the team, and they have not yet elaborated on his status further. Morrissey gives the Texans an active backup who is a natural center.
The team also announced it has signed guard Tre’Vour Wallace-Simms to the practice squad. Wallace-Simms was undrafted out of Missouri in 2020 but signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played five games for the Jaguars in 2020 and spent all of 2021 on their practice squad. Wallace-Simms originally signed with the Texans on June 6 but was waived on August 30.
