Texans News Roundup: Texans cut a trio of veterans including DE Mario Addison

In a pair of moves that were previously reported but not announced by the team, the Houston Texans are releasing offensive lineman A.J. Cann and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin. The Texans have also announced the release of veteran defensive end Mario Addison.

The trio were all signed before the 2022 season and are one-and-done in Houston.

Cann, 31, was signed by the Texans after seven years with division rival Jacksonville. He started 16 games for the Texans this past season, but after Houston traded with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Shaq Mason, Cann was left without a place in the starting lineup. Mason is expected to replace Cann at right guard, with second-year man Kenyon Green penciled in to start at left guard.

Reeves-Maybin played in all 17 games last season, almost exclusively on special teams.

Addison, who turns 36 this offseason, played in 12 games for the Texans this past season, recording 15 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and one pass defensed.

Houston saves over $10 million in cap space with the release of this trio of veterans.
