Texans release Pharaoh Brown

Brown started the year as the Texans top tight end

Tuesday, the Houston Texans announced they have released tight end, Pharaoh Brown.

Brown, 28, started the first three games of the season for Houston, recording 7 catches for 72 yards. He missed the team’s Week 4 contest with the Los Angeles Chargers due to hip and shoulder injuries.

Brown was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Oregon by the then-Oakland Raiders. He spent the next two seasons with the Cleveland Browns before signing with the Texans in September 2020.

Brown famously stated in June that he got into better shape and would be an All-Pro this year. Unfortunately, that dream will not happen in Houston this season.

Brevin Jordan, OJ Howard, and Jordan Akins all stand to get more playing time.
