Texans Release RB Royce Freeman
The move leaves the Texans with only three running backs on the roster.
The Houston Texans announced Friday that they have released RB Royce Freeman. The move leaves the team with a small group in the running back room, with only three backs on the roster in Dameon Pierce, Rex Burkhead, and Dare Ogunbowale.
Freeman, 26, was originally claimed off waivers by the Texans in November 2021, and was active for seven games with the team last season. He finished the season with 35 carries for 92 yards, as well as 7 receptions for 62 yards in spot duty. He re-signed with Houston in March 2022.
The Texans do not have any running backs on the practice squad.
