Texans sign TE Akins to active roster
The signing of Akins was part of a trio of moves announced by the Houston Texans.
Wednesday, The Houston Texans announced they signed tight end Jordan Akins to the active roster. Akins had been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster three consecutive weeks. NFL rules require any player that has been elevated three times must either be signed or released.
In 3 games this season, Akins has 7 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.
In other moves, the Texans signed DL Micah Dew-Treadway to the practice squad. Dew-Treadway, 25, was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent in May by the Chicago Bears. At 6-4, 315, Dew-Treadway offers significant size as interior DL depth.
The Texans also announced that they were placing DL Michael Dwumfour on Injured Reserve.
