The Texas Longhorns are riding positive momentum after Steve Sarkisian’s second year at the helm in Austin. The team posted an eight win season, made a bowl game, and has signed a top-5 recruiting class for the second year in a row.
Now, attention can officially turn to the 2023 season as the Longhorns schedule has been released.
Texas will begin its out-of-conference schedule hosting Rice, then travels to Alabama for the back end of a home-and-home, and finishes its non-conference slate facing Wyoming at home.
The Horns will contend with four new teams this year in their quest for a Big 12 title, as BYU, Cincinnati, UCF and Houston will join the conference in 2023.
Texas will open conference play with a familiar foe in Baylor on the road. Next, they host Kansas before traveling to Dallas for the Red River Showdown versus Oklahoma.
After a bye, Texas will travel to play new Big 12 foe Houston, then host the first of the newcomers in BYU before welcoming defending Big 12 Champion Kansas State to Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
The Horns will then be on the road again for two weeks, traveling to 2022 CFP Finalist TCU and then Iowa State. Texas Tech will travel to Austin for the season finale on the day after Thanksgiving.
The new Big 12 configuration means the Longhorns will no longer face every team in conference every season. Next year Texas will not face West Virginia, Cincinnati, UCF, or Oklahoma State.
