Texas lands commitment from 2024 Quarterback Trey Owens

Texas has landed the commitment of another highly touted quarterback recruit. Trey Owens, a three-star recruit rated as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting class by most recruiting services, has pledged to join the Longhorns.

As a junior at Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas, Owens threw for over 3,000 yards and 34 touchdowns against only six interceptions. The 6-4 200-pound Owens has all of the physical tools to compete at the next level, and his commitment adds another talented passer to the Longhorn pipeline behind current starter Quinn Ewers and 2023 five-star signee Arch Manning.

This commitment marks another positive development for Sarkisian and the Texas program following an improved 8-5 season. Texas also snagged a top-five recruiting class in the coaches’ second year at the helm.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of an elite program, and this signing shows that the Horns are adding the talent needed to compete at the highest level.
