Texas Longhorns basketball lands coveted big man in transfer portal
Former Virginia forward/center Kadin Shedrick is transferring to the University of Texas, per his social media Sunday. Shedrick, a redshirt junior from Holly Springs, North Carolina, averaged 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks while starting 15 of the Cavaliers’ 30 games last season. Shedrick has two years of eligibility remaining.
Shedrick, the first pickup by the Longhorns in the transfer portal, is the 17th-ranked prospect in the portal by 247 Sports. In more good news for head coach Rod Terry, forward Dylan Disu announced on his Instagram Sunday that he will return to Austin for his super senior season.
The 6-11 Shederick will provide a strong interior presence on both ends of the court and give UT the length they were sorely lacking last season.
With the addition of Shedrick and five-star recruit Ron Holland, along with the return of Disu, the Longhorns should have a versatile and imposing frontcourt rotation for the 2023-2024 season.
