The NFL’s Divisional Round Matchups are Set: Taking a first look at Divisional weekend with just eight teams left

AFC Divisional: No. 4 Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8) at  No. 1 Kansas City Chiefs (14-3)

Time/TV: Saturday, 3:30 p.m. CT/NBC

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs will kick off the AFC Divisional round from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kansas City enjoyed a bye during the wild-card round and will enter Saturday’s game with a huge rest advantage as a result. Jacksonville needed a furious comeback to topple the Chargers in the wild-card round, overcoming a 27-0 deficit and four interceptions by quarterback Trevor Lawrence to win 31-30. Lawrence will now start his first career playoff game on the road in what will certainly be a hostile environment. The Chiefs topped the Jaguars 27-17 on Nov. 13 in a game also played in Kansas City. That day, Patrick Mahomes passed for four touchdowns, and Kansas City controlled the game despite losing the turnover battle. If the Jaguars hope to pull off the upset at Arrowhead, they’ll need to start more quickly and avoid giving Kansas City’s ruthless offense extra possessions from turnovers.

NFC Divisional: No. 6 New York Giants (9-7-1) at No. 1 Philadelphia Eagles (13-4)

Time/TV: Saturday, 7:15 p.m. CT/FOX

The New York Giants will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Saturday night’s Divisional round showdown from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. New York picked up an upset win in Minnesota to earn its divisional round opportunity, topping the Vikings 31-24 behind an impressive outing from quarterback Daniel Jones. Philadelphia, meanwhile, had a much-needed bye. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts returned for Philadelphia’s Week 18 matchup with the Giants but clearly was not 100% healthy. The Eagles hope the extra week of healing does him wonders heading into Saturday night. Philadelphia and New York met twice during the regular season, and the Eagles won both matchups. The Eagles won in blowout fashion on the road on Dec. 11, but won a much closer contest at home on Jan. 8. New York played Week 18’s game close to the vest, sitting starters and likely not exposing key parts of its playbook to Philadelphia. The Eagles will be heavily favored in front of their home crowd – but if New York’s road win in the wild-card round was any indication, the Giants will not be intimidated.

AFC Divisional: No. 3 Cincinnati Bengals at No. 2 Buffalo Bills

Time/TV: Sunday, 2 p.m. CT/CBS

The Buffalo Bills will host the Cincinnati Bengals in Sunday afternoon’s Divisional Round game at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. Buffalo and Cincinnati met just three weeks ago in Cincinnati, but the game was ultimately canceled nine minutes into the first quarter after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field, and medical staff performed CPR after he suffered cardiac arrest. Hamlin is still recovering but has since been released from the hospital. Buffalo defeated the Miami Dolphins 34-31 last Sunday to advance to the divisional round but struggled to pull away despite being heavily favored. Cincinnati won in dramatic fashion over division rival Baltimore, a 24-17 victory catalyzed by defensive end Sam Hubbard’s 98-yard fumble return touchdown in the fourth quarter. Buffalo lost just one home game all season, and has won eight straight games overall. If the Bengals hope to pull off the road upset, protecting quarterback Joe Burrow with a banged-up offensive line is a must.

NFC Divisional: No. 5 Dallas Cowboys (12-5) at No. 2 San Francisco 49ers (13-4)

Time/TV: Sunday, 5 p.m. CT/FOX

The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday evening’s NFC Divisional round. The Cowboys earned the opportunity to move on with a 31-14 win in Tampa Bay, stifling the Buccaneers’ offense while Dak Prescott completed four touchdown passes. San Francisco defeated Seattle in the wild-card round, pulling away with an impressive second half to win comfortably, 41-23. The 49ers knocked Dallas out of the playoffs last season at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, but the Cowboys have revenge on their minds heading into Sunday. San Francisco enters having won 11 straight games, never missing a beat despite seventh-round rookie Brock Purdy being forced into action at quarterback. While Dallas dominated the Buccaneers in the wild-card round, kicker Brett Maher created a clear area of concern with his sudden inability to kick accurately. Maher missed four extra points, becoming the first kicker in NFL history to miss more than two in a playoff game.
